Workshop Description

Miguel Unson will introduce and cover his approach and techniques to creating his uniquely organic patterns in fused glass. He will share with students his signature method of firing vertical stringers to create unpredictable patterns as well as techniques of cutting, recombining, re-melting and manipulating glass to create unique works.  Students will be encouraged to take these techniques as a departure point for their own work and build it into their aesthetic.  Kilnforming is experience is helpful but not required.

Unson currently lives and works in Stanwood, Washington.

Artist Statement

“I want to spark a revolution in 21st Century studio glass by harnessing the power of the unknown and combining it with the ancient and the eternal. Glass is renowned for its ability to capture light, but it is equally adept at celebrating emotion and reflecting nature. What a privilege to step into this world, and to revel in one of the world’s most elusive yet enduring art forms.”
