'Aha Hana Lima 2021

'Aha Hana Lima ("Gathering of the Crafts") is held annually. Traditionally it is a series of intensive 3-day workshops, lectures, and dialogues concerned with various media: clay, metal, wood, fiber, or glass. Being in the era COVID19 - Let's Go Virtual!

Hawaiʻi Craftsmen has partnered with experienced and trusted providers of online education to put together a menu of Virtual Online Workshops with a special 40% discount for current members! This promo code can be used for select classes, workshops, demos or lectures from our pre-selected list of organizations.

PLEASE NOTE: This program is supported by our annual HSFCA Basic Program grant, in addition to revenue generated from the Francis Pickens Endowment Fund of the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation. To be mindful of our budget during our first virtual programming, each member will be limited to one offering in their ability to use a promo code.

As each partnership has a limited number of offerings, we encourage you to sign up as early as possible to receive the Hawaiʻi Craftsmen discount. In the event that our budget can sustain additional sign-ups, additional registration spots may become available.

How to Participate

  • Pre-registration links will be open from March 15-31, 2021

Partner Offerings: Class, Workshop, Demo, Lecture

Virtual Live is for events that meet on a set date and time. The artist/teacher will participate live via Zoom, with the class. Typically there is interaction between the participants and the teacher. When you register for these make sure you are available during the dates and times stated and remember time zone differences. These options are, often, but not always, made available for limited or unlimited viewing after the live event is pau.

Virtual On Demand is for classes that have been prerecorded and there is no direct interaction with the artist /teacher other than what is on the video. Often there is a group, often a Facebook group, where you can discuss the class with others who have taken the class; sometimes the teacher participates in these exchanges. Once you register for this option you can watch the content on your own schedule; sometimes there is a time limit to watch, sometimes you own the content forever.

Please click through each of the partner links for lots more information about the workshop titles, topics, format and artists.
